Call for Papers

We welcome submissions from anyone wishing to contribute to the BMLA 2027 scientific programme.

There are two submission opportunities, outlined below: Oral Presentations and Shark Tank Pitches (Nirmal Oswal Research Award). You are welcome to submit in both categories; however, each submission must be distinct. The same abstract or pitch cannot be submitted to both categories.

Please review the submission guidelines for each category before submitting your work.

To ensure we are able to finalise the programme in time to apply for CPD accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians, the BMLA2027 programme must be submitted by 26 February 2026.

Oral Presentation Submission

We welcome abstracts on a wide range of topics to help shape the scientific programme.

Successful submissions will be allocated a 15-minute oral presentation slot, including time for questions from the audience.

Nirmal Oswal Research Award

The BMLA invites visionary researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, postgraduate students and trainees (at any career level) to pitch their most cutting-edge research or innovative ideas in laser and light-based technology. Whether it's a breakthrough in therapy, diagnostics or service delivery, this is your chance to make your mark!

What happens after you have submitted?

You will receive a confirmation email that your submission has been received. If you don’t receive this email, check that you have indeed submitted the abstract and it’s not sitting in drafts or contact the organisers. Your submission will be sent for review after the closing date, and you will be notified of the outcome by email after 16 February 2027.

Please note that notification emails will be sent to the email address provided when you submitted your paper.
